The Suwannee River Water Management District acquires lands for flood control, water quality protection, water supply sustainability, and natural resource conservation. Once these lands are brought under the District's management, the majority of the lands are made available for public use and recreation.
The District's land management strategies are designed to ensure a balance between public access, general public recreational purposes, and restoration and protection of the natural state and condition.
Through a variety of purchase options, the District is protecting north-central Florida's precious water and related land resources. The District purchases land in fee and less-than-fee options.
Lands that are determined to no longer offer a conservation value to the District are offered as surplus. These
Access/Utility Easements
Requests for access and/or utility easements across District lands are considered on a case-by-case basis and cannot impact District management activities.
Leases / Use of District Property
Exclusive use of District lands is very limited and only considered if activities to do negatively impact District management.
