Educational Water Resource Funding Program

The Suwannee River Water Management District (District) invites schools and community groups within its 15-county boundary to join our effort in protecting water resources by completing water quality, Project Renew 2water quantity, flood protection and/or natural systems protection projects.

Types of Eligible Projects

The program is currently open to interested schools and community groups. Applicants may apply for a maximum of $20,000 in funding. Projects that have been funded in the past include:

  • Drip irrigation systems
  • Lab equipment
  • Equipment to reduce nutrient loads
  • Florida Friendly Landscaping
  • Rain barrels 

Applicants are eligible to receive funding for one project per academic year and project must be completed before September 30.

Apply for Grants

Fill out the Educational Water Resource Funding Program application to apply. All school and community groups within the District are encouraged to submit and application. Be sure to review the program guidelines before submitting an application. They can be found here

Additional Information

Successful acceptance of an application requires check-ins with the District. A final report and documentation must include:

  • Description of the activities
  • Dates and locations of any field studies
  • Photographs of students participating in project activities
  • Presentation to the District's Governing Board
