GIS Data

Overview

The Suwannee River Water Management District's (District) Geographic Information System (GIS) database was developed to support many of the SRWMD's planning, environmental, and regulatory activities. This database includes a considerable amount of information that is potentially of value to federal, state, regional, and local governmental agencies, as well as to private businesses and citizens. Use of these data requires a general understanding of GIS. Data is provided on an "as is" basis. Information about the availability of specific layers may be obtained by contacting the GIS Coordinator at 386-362-1001.

Data will be distributed as WinZip archives of ESRI shapefiles. Metadata documentation is included with each WinZipped shapefile and is available for every dataset available for download. The primary means of distribution is via the District's online Document Center. The file names are meant to be as descriptive as possible. However, if you have difficulty, please consult the directory or contact the GIS Coordinator.

How Data is Provided

All data are provided in the Florida State Plane Projection, North Zone, Units US Feet, Datum HPGN (83/90). In some cases data may be Florida State Plane Projection, North Zone, Units US Feet, Datum NAD83. Currently, most data are available as district wide layers. No customized clipping or joining will be performed.
